Golf Channel Selects Grayhawk to Host Am Tour Championships

The 2014 Golf Channel Am Tour National Championships are to be held at Grayhawk Golf Club and Talking Stick Resort, according to a recent announcement. This is the first time that the final tournament of the Golf Channel Am Tour, the world’s largest amateur golf event, will be held in Scottsdale.

grayhawk golf clubDuring the Golf Channel Am Tour Championships, golfers of all ages compete against hundreds of their peers in four rounds of golf, each played on a different course. The courses featured in this year’s Am Tour Championship event are Grayhawk’s Talon and Raptor and Talking Stick’s North and South golf courses.

The tournament will be broken up into two categories. The traditional National Championship will be held September 8-12 for participants below 50 years of age. The Senior National Championship will follow from September 14-18 and include players 50 years of age and up. Each Championship begins with a Welcome Dinner and ends with an Awards Ceremony to celebrate the winners. Golfers competing in the Golf Channel Am Tour Championships will also be able to retire to the world class luxury of the Talking Stick Resort after each day of play.

Arizona Musicfest Comes to Grayhawk!

As part of the 2014 Arizona Musicfest, Vi at Grayhawk will be hosting a special Young Performers Recital on January 18 at 2 p.m. Spend an afternoon with other Scottsdale music lovers who share your enthusiasm for classical composition, while showing your support for a group of talented young musicians.

az musicfestThis afternoon event will showcase three award-winning performers: Linda Han (violin), Jonah Breakstone (piano) and Jessica Zhang (piano). For these inspiring youths, the Young Performers Recital is an exciting opportunity to experience playing for an audience in a professional concert atmosphere. The concert will be followed by a reception during which you can meet the musicians, ask questions, discuss classical music and enjoy refreshments.

This event is free to attend and does not require an RSVP.

Arizona Musicfest is an organization dedicated to presenting exceptional musical performance and educating Arizona’s youth through various music programs in local schools. The annual winter festival includes performances in a wide range of genres such as classical orchestral, jazz, opera, country-western, pop and more. Concerts and programs take place throughout Scottsdale, Carefree and North Phoenix.

The Hiking Club Holds First Meeting of New Season

Grayhawk ArizonaGrayhawk hikers – don’t miss the first Hiking Club meeting of the season. On Monday, September 23 from 6:30-8:30p.m. in the Talon Room, hikers will meet to discuss the schedule for the upcoming hiking season.

The Hiking Club hosts at least two hikes a month from October through April. It’s a great way to stay in shape and socialize. Best of all, the hikes cater to all skill levels.

Club leaders will be showcasing the new club website www.GrayhawkHikingClub.org and discussing opportunities to discover new hiking trails in the McDowell Mountain Preserve.

Grayhawk Scottsdale Offers Summer Golf Camps

Grayhawk GolfLooking for something to keep the kids active and social this summer?  We’ve got good news — Grayhawk Golf Club is hosting a summer camp for children and teens, ages 8 through 16.  The three-day camps are open to golfers of all skill levels. Children will be taught the fundamentals of golf including full swing, putting and short game. In addition to technique, the campers will be taught the rules of the game, as well as golf etiquette. Parents can rest easy knowing that camp provides a retreat for youngsters to practice a sport they love while staying supervised and safe.

Camp sessions run weekly, Tuesday through Thursday in June and July from 8:00a.m. to 10:30a.m. Each session will cost $175. Campers must be signed up by 5p.m. a week prior to the camp’s start date.
