Grayhawk’s Partnership with Phil Mickelson Spans Two Decades

PGA star, Phil Mickelson, has been a long-timegrayhawk golf club friend and partner to Grayhawk since before its inception in 1994. Mickelson now receives around $44 million in endorsement deals every year from big names such as Callaway Golf, Rolex and Barclays, yet he still displays the Grayhawk logo on his golf bag.

Grayhawk is one of the finest examples of the personal touch Mickelson adds to each of his business partnerships. Though his fame has long since placed him out of the club’s price range, he continues to renew his endorsement deal with them every year. One of Grayhawk’s restaurants is named Phil’s Grill and showcases memorabilia of the pro’s many tournament wins and even from his Arizona State University days. Grayhawk developer Gregg Tryhus and Captain of the Club Del Cochran have maintained a close relationship with Mickelson, who will still call up the two for a round of golf whenever he’s in town.

Mickelson is certainly a fan favorite here in Scottsdale, and it will be exciting to see what the 2015 Phoenix Open holds for him.

Grayhawk Ranks in Golf Magazine’s Top 100 for 2014

Golf.com, Golf Magazine’s premier golf news website, released a list of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the U.S. for 2014. Seven golf courses in Arizona made the list, including Grayhawk Golf Club’s renowned Talon course. Othergrayhawk talon golf course well-known Scottsdale courses mentioned were Troon North’s Monument and Talon courses and The Boulders Club South course.

Though no AZ courses ranked above 25th on the list, it is clear that the Valley is a popular stop for golf enthusiasts around the country. Fort McDowell’s We-Ko-Pa Golf Club had two courses in the Top 50, and the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa sat at No. 86.

The list, titled “Top 100 Courses You Can Play 2014,” included only public access courses and clubs. Scottsdale is known to be a haven for avid golfers looking for a private club to join, though there is no shortage of public clubs in the area as well. Two of Scottsdale’s most treasured public golf clubs are Troon North and Grayhawk. Each has won numerous awards for playability, beauty, and quality.
