A new Resort in Grayhawk is currently in the planning stages. The corner of Thompson Peak Parkway and Pima Road may soon be the site of the new Resort. The landowners have requested a major amendment to their zoning. They are seeking to change the land use on about 54 acres from commercial and open space to a Resort designation. Buildings will occupy only a portion of the land. Plenty of that land will remain as natural area open space. Approximately 41.5 acres will be designated as developed open space to the northern and western portions of the existing property, which touches the Raptor Golf Course at Grayhawk. Two holes of the Raptor Golf Course may be relocated if the plan proceeds.
Community members attended a meeting at Grayhawk elementary on September 12th to discuss the plan. Some residents were concerned about how it would affect the value of their Scottsdale homes. The increase of traffic on Pima Road and the density for the proposed Resort was discussed at length. The city of Scottsdale requires two separate planning commission hearings and a remote hearing prior to a recommendation vote to Scottsdale City Council where a two-thirds majority vote is required for passage, according to state law. City officials anticipate Scottsdale City Council to hear this request in November.
What do you think? Are you excited at the possibility of a new resort in Grayhawk?
